Blackforest tutorial

1. You will need : Chocolate clay
Red + Blue + Translucent = Purple Clay
                              White+ Translucent clay
                              Red (Cherry/wine) + translucent

2. Roll out the chocolate clay. Cut out 2 circles. I used the back of a whipped cream piping tip. Reroll the remaining and set the two circles aside. Roll out the chocolate clay again, more thinly. Cut out one circle.
3. Cut out circles from the purple clay and the white clay, with the same thickness of the third chocolate circle.
4. Stack the circles in this order. Thick chocolate clay, white clay, thin chocolate clay, purple clay, thick chocolate clay. Press and compact the layers together.
5. Grab more white clay and flatten it out, large enough to cover the entire cake. Smoothen it out.
6. Mix sculpy bake n bond or liquid sculpy with white acryllic paint. Put the mixture in a small piping bag and cut a VERY small hole in the corner. Squeese out the cream around the top edges of the cake.
7. Next, make the cherries. Use the red and translucent clay mixture and roll into tiny balls (cherries)
PLace the cherries along the edge of the cake, on the whipped cream.
8. Flatten out some chocolate coloured clay. Cut grids into it. Bake it,
9. After it is hard, chop into tiny pieces and sprinkle it in the middle of the cake, within the whipped cream border.
10. Pop the cake in the fridge.
11. After about 5 minutes, cut out one slice of cake and texture.

UPs and DOWNs in every day

I guess today was alright. I got my english results back and I'm happy with it :) Hope that can be maintained. We also got feedback for LIT UBD. I think the teacher was happy with ours and the Q and A went well :)
However, my lit teacher said that my book was not well tabbed :(( I don't want to create a bad impression of me on her :( Better do it properly on the second chance.I thought tabbing was personal?? But I guess it was a little messy.
Gonna have to do more math today :P However much I don't enjoy it, It helps me so I guess I'll just have to bear with it and practice well for my coming exams.

Youtube and tutorials

I've been posting tutorials on my youtube channel so do check it out if you are interested :) I have a donut one and a bread one so far. And if you have a youtube account, do suscribe to my channel :D

I'm planning to have a "proper" blogshop with stuff like "add to cart" and all but I don't have the time right now. I will be taking my chinese 'O' levels this year and all my other subjects' 'O' papers will take place next year. So I will need to concentrate on my studies.

Steak :)

How do you like your steak?
I like mine in 1:12 scale :)

I'm quite pleased with the result of this actually. The carrots looked more real when I add a lot of translucent clay to it. Although the part that I was disatisfied with was the fat part of the steak. I mixed translucent with a very small bit of brown about in the ratio of 1:7 yet the colour still became very dark. (I hope I'm making sense :P) So the fats look wasn't really achieve. Brushing on some glossy varnish helped a little though,

Steak on a plate** $5.50

Japanese mold makers

My mum came home with a big surprise the other day. There is the donut set, the biscuit and macroon set,and the chocolate set. There's made of really flexible plastic and are rather easy to use with ADC as compare to polymer clay.

Charm Update

I haven't been to much minimaking recently. (except maybe for the fillet burger I made yesterday).

I've got rather attached to making charms out of light air dry clay.

This biscuit one was made out of jumping clay. Rather hard to work with but produces clean, neat results.
The macaroon is made using fuwafuwa ADC using a mold my mum and her friend bought me at UrbanWrite. I'll be showing the molds in my next mold.

The silicone gives a naturally "creamy" effect.

Macaroon charm (with hp strap) $3.50

Kueh Bahulu and Pandan Chiffon Cake

Actually, this kueh bahulu is made using a jelly mold. The "Cakey" texture is one again very useful here.

Similarly, the chiffon cake had a really nice texture, although I am not yet completely satisfied with it. I have yet to browm the outsides of the chiffon cake though.

ADC rice

I was really satisfied with the how the ADC rice turned out. Without having to roll the grains one by one like I did in the bento, I simply pinched and scraped the grains out of the ADC and it actually gives a really realistic effect :D

Donut Madness!

A variety of ADC donuts I made using a mold I made using a rement donut :) haha.
I don't actually plan on putting icing on them, maybe just sugar cause the icing will probably hide the grooves.

These are not dollhouse scale.

Tiny little ADC donuts. Now, these are dollhouse scale

Donuts with icing sugar, icing and sugar :D

ADC donuts(1st picture) on a board with magnet**
$4
Dollhouse scale donuts on a plate(3rd picture)**
$3.50

Taiyaki

Taiyaki is a kind of Japanese Pancake. I've never actually tried one before but they sure look good.
I made this out of air dry clay and it produces a great "cakey" texure. I cut open this one after I baked it but perphaps it will look even more soft and fluffy if I tore it open before it dries.

Taikayi on a plate(whole/torn open)***- $3.50
With magnet: additional $1
Taiyaki in plastic bag/paper bag* - $3

Waffles

Mm..waffles and ice cream :DD Finally found the perfect formula for chocolate sauce -- Burnt sienna, brown and crimson.

Here is the waffle for the giveaway!

Daiso ADC

I bought some Daiso ADC! :D My first creation with this ADC is this lil' marshmallow charm. The eyepin is not that visible in the picture but it's there :)

The result are rather satisfying and I'm quite happy with the overall effect.

Marshmallow charm (hp strap)**** $3
With chocolate** $3.50

1st attempt at Decoden!

TADAH!! :D
Finally got the whipped cream right. True enough, whipped cream was the key to success.
Its not perfect but I'm pretty happy with the results. The cookies and ice cream were homemade but the canes were ready made.

I can offer a new packaging service for decoden and the little box in the picture is up for sale for $4.50 but I'm working to make better ones :D

Just went "shopping" over the weekends to get stuff to help me manage the orders :) In the process of making more 'suju" chibis right now, so the foodies have got to wait. At the same time, I'm preparing for a competition on "gentleman bunny's" channel on youtube.

And YET, at the same time, its been rather busy and still is at school. Hopefully things will slow down a bit once the mid-year vacations come.

Experiment with paper clay

I just bought a pack of japanese paper clay at POPULAR on Friday and was so eager to try it. But it actually got me rather disappointed. It was hard to shape and the texture of the paper pulp was rather odd to work with. Maybe its just me.
But I wouldn't say its bad. It probably just gives really different effect. Make the food look very rustic.

Another problem was that I couldn't tint the paper clay. I had to paint it after shaping it. Tinting it make it dry almost immediately, for some odd reason.

But from my experiments, I would say that paper clay is good for making breads and figurines. I'm still in the process of making azuzephre's pon and zi :DD

Clay Figurines :)

This is a "chibi-fied" version of sungmin from super junior, my first figurine order.  I made ryeowook, yesung, eyunhuk and shindoong as well. (hope I got the names right)

Wondering if it would be good to make the entire super junior since the k-pop madness is hanging around now :P
Available for sale :  Eyunhyuk, Shindoong, (Might make Donghae next. Hmm..)
$4 each - with or without magnet :D

Breakfast

Mm..just had a breakfast of a beancurd tart. Sounds wierd but it actually tastes kinda nice. Should be preparing for school now so this will be a short one.

This is a plate of a typical/traditional english breakfast. Left out the baked beans though. I brushed everything except the scone with a very very thin layer of glaze to make it look slightly oily.
The scones can be repaced with bagel or toast etc. This is solely out of my imagination so I will try one using a reference picture soon.

Mini breakfast set A*** $4.50

Whipped cream madness!

Recently, I've been trying to find more economical ways to make fake whipped cream. As a student, I don't have that much to spend on materials and its kinda bad to ask for any more money to buy materials. Thats why I have to sell my creations in order to get more money to get more materials :D teehee.
But anyway, back to the topic, here in Singapore, ready made whipped cream like decogel or fuwafuwa whipped cream can cause around $25 for a small tube.

Therefore, I set out to find alternatives to make whipped cream. I tried making my own piping bag and use it to pipe fuwafuwa normal ADC but failed quite miseribly. I also tried acryllic paint. I thought it worked but then ran out of it. Then, I tried mixing sculpy with liquid sculpy but it ended up a messy thing.

In the end, I resorted to the mold method. It worked ok but did not produce the best results. However, before that, I "consulted" Mdm Ang and she showed me how to make a whip cream dollop using tweezers. Still practicing that though.

If I do have success with the whipped cream, I will definitely post the pictures :)

Basic loaf of bread tutorial

Here is the tutorial to make a basic loaf of bread. Its not too hard to do :) I had a video but I had problems uploading it so I did a photo tutorial instead. Hope this is helpful .

Here are the tools you will probably need: yellow, white, light brown and dark brown chalk pastles, an old toothbrush, a sponge with a "scratchy" side, a brush, a needle tool and a penknife/blade/craft knife, and a piece of paper

Knead some translucent clay and white clay together in a ratio of about 1:2

Shape the clay into a squarish log shape.

Press the two "long sides" of the bread near the bottom gently to create a bread shape.

Rub the chalk pastles on a piece of paper.

Texture the bread on all sides using your toothbrush,

Enhance the texture using the "scratchy" side of the sponge.

Start to brush on the colours to give the bread a baked effect. Start with the lightest colour but be careful not to apply too much yellow.

Brush the darker brown only on the top of the bread -- since it is more likely to burn at the top :)
You may also add a tinge at the corners :)

At the end, it should look something like this.

Then, cover it and pop it in the freezer for about 10 minutes. Then, using your knife, cut about two slices out of the loaf. Do not use a sawing motion to cut as "jaggs" will appear on the bread.

Texture the white portions of the bread.

Then, use a needle tool to make air holes of varied sizes on the white portions of the bread.

Add some finishing touches to your loaf of bread.

There you have it! A little loaf of bread :D
